Born in Northern Minnesota to a musical family, Nick has been playing and making music his entire life. He began his career in audio engineering at some of Minneapolis’s leading recording studios. In 2001, Nick met John Kuker and soon became his primary assistant, helping operate Seedy Underbelly studios first in Minneapolis, and later in Los Angeles. Along the way, Nick honed his craft under the mentorship of some of the industry’s most accomplished engineers and producers. Even while developing expertise in engineering, production, and studio management, Nick continued to make and play music with a range of artists, touring throughout the country. When John Kuker bought Pachyderm Studios in 2011, Nick became its studio manager and recording engineer. He has remained at Pachyderm ever since, helping carry forward John’s vision for this legendary recording space.
Nick’s engineering and production credits include Beach House, Trampled by Turtles, The Jayhawks, Hippo Campus, Peaches, and The Cribs.
With his easy-going personality, finely-tuned ear, attention to detail, and seasoned professionalism, Nick creates an environment in which artists can feel comfortable, creative, and fully focused on their work. Pachyderm is his labor of love, and he strives to ensure every artist's time there is inspired, effortless, and productive
